Seven Bridge fundraising feat kickstart XMA's pledge of support to St David's

The St David’s Foundation Hospice will receive a cash injection of more than £700 from IT specialists XMA, thanks to staff from its Wales office who completed the Severn Bridge Walk on Sunday (8 May, 2011) in aid of the hospice at home care provider.

Staff at XMA Wales, based in Cwmbran, enlisted the support of friends, family and neighbours in their firstfundraising feat as part of a year-long commitment to St David’s Foundation.

XMA Wales manager and fundraiser Julie Penhallurick explains: “The XMA Wales team went to visit the hospice recently and we were all inspired by the work the staff do to support the community. Providing free hospice care to so many patients is amazing, and St David’s Foundation relies almost entirely on donations to keep going, which really struck a chord with us.

“This is the first year XMA has run a company scheme nominating one charity to benefit from our fundraising activity, and it was a unanimous decision to support St David’s Foundation. It’s such a worthy cause and right on our doorstep.”

As part of the new Charity of the Year initiative, XMA invites its staff to select a charity close to their hearts, which all company-backed fundraising will support. All money raised by staff is matched in company donations.

XMA’s Julie Penhallurick added: “We all had a great time on the Severn Bridge Walk and look forward to more activities in the future for the benefit of St David’s Foundation.”

Kris Broome, of St David’s Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to have forged this valuable new relationship with XMA . We’re also very pleased to know that XMA staff had such a great time out supporting the charity on the Severn Bridge Walk and in so doing helping to raise funds for St David’s Foundation to continue to provide free hospice at home services to patients throughout Gwent.”

XMA’s partnership with the hospice is part of an ongoing commitment to Wales, which will also see staff move into new larger offices in the next few weeks, at Llantarnam Business Park in Cwmbran.
